Questions that change the reading order

Short answers, with sources.

What order should I read the ACOTAR books?

Read the five published books in publication order: A Court of Thorns and Roses, A Court of Mist and Fury, A Court of Wings and Ruin, A Court of Frost and Starlight, then A Court of Silver Flames. The announced sequence continues with A Court of Splintered Harmony and A Court of Forgotten Melody.

Can I skip A Court of Frost and Starlight?

For a first read, Shelf of Worlds recommends keeping it between A Court of Wings and Ruin and A Court of Silver Flames. Bloomsbury says it closes Feyre’s story arc and sets the scene for Silver Flames, so we treat it as part of the primary sequence rather than an optional extra.
