Shelf of Worlds is an independent digital editorial project available at shelfofworlds.com. You can contact social@shelfofworlds.com about privacy or requests concerning your information.
The Shelf of Worlds brand identifies the service; it does not, by itself, imply that a company has been incorporated under that name.
Information we process
You can browse books, series, authors and guides without an account. Visits may generate technical records needed for delivery, protection and troubleshooting, including IP address, time, browser and access logs.
If you use a reader account, we process your email, authentication identifier and any optional display name, website language, reading languages, shopping market and saved books or series. Guest saves remain on your device.
If you choose Google sign-in, Google supplies identity and sign-in information within the permissions you grant. We do not request Gmail, Drive or contacts access. We do not collect payment-card details or sell your reading history.
Purposes and lawful bases
We use the information needed to provide requested sign-in, saved lists and preferences and to handle account requests. Processing needed to provide these account features is based on delivery of the requested service.
Security, abuse prevention, reliability and suitably limited analytics may rely on legitimate interests subject to the applicable assessment. Any optional use requiring consent will start only after that consent is obtained. Creating an account does not subscribe you to marketing.
Service providers and external sites
Our infrastructure includes Vercel (web delivery), Cloudflare (domain and network), Supabase (reader authentication and data), Resend (transactional email) and Google when selected for sign-in. Umami and Vercel Web Analytics provide website measurement.
Book pages can link to Amazon and other retailers. Their policies govern activity after you follow a link; purchases happen outside Shelf of Worlds. Some material, including book-cover images, may be served from external bibliographic providers.
Retention and deletion
Reader data is kept while your reader space is in use or until you request deletion. You can export saved items and preferences when the function is available. Deleting reader data and closing the complete sign-in identity are separate actions.
Operational deletion does not instantly erase security logs or provider backups subject to retention schedules. Information is retained only as needed for legitimate purposes and applicable obligations. Contact us for help with account closure.
International processing and security
Some providers may process information outside the European Economic Area. Where required, an adequacy decision or other GDPR safeguards must apply. We use access controls, separation between readers' private data and encrypted transport.
Private saved lists are not published in book pages or search results. Provider-specific safeguards and operational arrangements are reviewed as the infrastructure changes.
Your rights
Where applicable, you can request access, correction, deletion, restriction, objection or portability and withdraw optional consent without affecting earlier lawful processing. Write to social@shelfofworlds.com; proportionate identity verification may be needed.
You can also complain to the Spanish Data Protection Agency (www.aepd.es) or another competent data-protection authority.
Children and changes
Reader accounts are not intended for children under 16. The public catalogue can be used without registration. If an account does not meet this condition, we may restrict access and respond to a legal guardian's request.
We will update this policy if features, providers or legal requirements change, with a revised review date.
